It was 1625 when Carlo Barberini, brother of Pope Urban VIII, bought the villa by the noble family Sforza; immediately began the renovation of the residence where you become the natural home of legendary magnificent ceremonies and receptions; to this end, the work was awarded to the most important artists of the time: Carlo Maderno, Gian Lorenzo Bernini and Francesco Borromini. In the late 1800s the villa has been transformed into a wonderful art gallery where you can admire works by Caravaggio, Guido Reni, Tintoretto, Titian, Fra Angelico, Rubens, Guercino, Pietro da Cortona and especially the famous painting of the "Fornarina" the famous courtesan and mistress of Raphael, painted by the disciple of the master: Giulio Romano.
